The Age reports that former Australian Conservation Foundation boss Tricia Caswell is now fronting up Victorian Association of Forest Industries. People are calling traitor left, right and center. One hopes she can effect the change she is hoping for.
It is promising for me to see that some people are finally trying alternatives to shouting from the sidelines to effect change. That’s what huméco is all about – different sphere, same objective.
Reading Good News for a Change demonstrated to me that it doesn’t have to be an “all or nothing” approach – even with older forests. Problem is, currently that’s the mentality of both sides of the argument, and while that remains so progress will be minimal, at best. I’m not supporting the industry, just supporting the idea that an environmentalist fronting a logging organisation could be a very good thing.
