Hey Joe, know an Eskimo?

Babushkimos

My employer, Digital Eskimo, are looking for Producers, Designers and Flash coders at the moment, and we’ve launched a new initiative that we’ve affectionately called The Babushkimos to try and find the right people.

The basic gist is if you refer someone that lands the gig at DE, you’ll get a cut of $2000. If you’re the direct referrer, that is the person that referred the person, you get $1000. If you are the second in line (i.e. you send it on to someone who refers the new Eskimo) you get $500 and so on.

But there’s a much cuter representation (and more detailed description) on the Babushkimo page. So if ya know someone, pass it on :)

  • But it is…

A friend said it’s a section from a movie called “The 11 Commandments” which is kind of like a French interpretation of Jackass (apparently). Word is it makes a little more sense with sub-titles.

Some more if you like it: 1, 2.

  • MSF petition

Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) is running a petition asking pharmaceutical company Novartis to drop a law suit against the Indian government. The case would result in affordable versions of Novartis drugs to become unavailable.

Pharmaceutical company Novartis is taking the Indian government to court. If the company wins, millions of people across the globe could have their sources of affordable medicines dry up.

If you can spare a minute please consider adding your name.

    The igloo ain’t no disco

The Igloo - our affectionate term for the Digital Eskimo office - has been featured on This Ain’t No Disco - a blog that “invites Agencies from across the world to show us their inner sanctum”. Cool!

  • Assistance in the dark

This is fantastic: Don’t be left in the dark during Earth Hour.

Australia’s leading blindness agency, Vision Australia is offering all-important advice for people taking part in tomorrow’s Earth Hour blackout in Sydney.

… Vision Australia’s Marketing & Fundraising Manager Trish Egan says, “Admittedly this advice is usually given to assist people who are blind or have low vision to live more independently. But there’s no reason why anyone can’t use the tips to help them move around safely during the blackout tomorrow night!”

Love it. Check out the full release - very clever.

P.S. 55,000+ individuals and 2000+ businesses are now committed - today has been HUGE I tells ya…

  • EVs in the media

The head of marketing at Tesla Motors has written a thought provoking blog post about the media’s approach to EV vehicles.

I have to agree with some of the comments - even the negative ones. But it is pretty amazing to see how far Tesla have already come and what’s on the horizon. Definitely worth checking out…
