Design Fun (?)

Been spending a lot of time in Illustrator this week – just finished a 1.65m x 0.6m banner (I’ve never worked with a file that big, ever!) and a double-sided A4 brochure for work. Along with that I’ve been tweaking the huméco logo as well. Gee – maybe one day I might actually feel like I can call myself a designer…

One thing that I have been getting a lot of value out of is iStockPhoto. Excellent site – you have to wade through some less than great source to find the gems, but there is gold in them thar hills. Some excellent material, even if all you’re after is some sparks to begin the creative process.

Now with internet back up at home (Pacific Internet’s service dropped out 2 mins after I posted last night – d’oh!) and these two projects out of the way, I’ll hopefully be able to do more stuff at home and in transit, and therefore have a bit more time chill out. I have two big meetings next week, and I’m presenting our product at the North Sydney Chamber of Commerce as well, so there’s still plenty on.

Oh, lastly, I was interviewed for a small segment in Technology & Business magazine on Tuesday. Don’t know how it will turn out – fingers crossed I don’t sound like a dick…

Netgear (non) support

No mention on the Netgear website, although there are a couple of different discussion groups around that clearly identify the problem, and claim that a reverse polarity ethernet cable is required to get it to work. Well – I’m still waiting on the cable, but one of the other suggestions on the discussion group was to insert a small hub in the chain between the modem and the router. That works (thus this post). I await the cable from Netgear with bated breath…

The short version? My WiFi internet is working at home again. And not a moment too soon!

I have to say – my experience with Netgear products has been exceptional up to this point. I hope that this is an anomoly…
