In extension to my post yesterday on SARS as a moral panic. I saw these two headlines one after the other today “on the wire” so to speak. (Both from AP via GoUpstate.com)
“IRC: Congo Civil War Kills 3.3 Million”
“Death Toll From SARS Reaches 100″
Kinda puts things in perspective don’t you think?

The Congo is a real tragedy…
It is the story behind SARS that is the prime interest… it appears that some pigs may have been fed food that they wouldn’t normally eat… left over meat scraps mixed with waste from chickens that lived above the pig pens.
Sounds similar to an incident with cattle in the UK and sheeps brains.
People playing God because of profit motive going against the natural order.
